Indian Railways announced 1,265 Station Master vacancies under CEN 08/2026; graduates can apply online until November 25, 2026.
What happened
Indian Railways announced 1,265 Station Master vacancies under Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2026, with applications opening on 27 October 2026 and closing on 25 November 2026 [4][14][15]. A corrigendum issued on 27 October revised the total from 1,215 to 1,265 posts [14][16]. The recruitment is conducted separately from other railway exams and comprises a single‑stage computer‑based test (CBT) followed by a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) [4][16].
Why it matters
Graduates from any recognised university can apply for Level‑6 positions with an initial basic salary of ₹35,400 per month [14]. The age limit is 20–33 years as of 1 January 2027, with standard reservations for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and ex‑servicemen [14]. The new exam pattern removes a General Awareness section; the 100‑question CBT includes Basic Science & Mathematics, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Logical Capability and Mental Reasoning, with a negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer [16]. The CBAT is qualifying in each battery and contributes 30 % to the final merit [16].
What to watch
Applicants must submit forms via the official portal (rrbapply.gov.in) before 25 November 2026; fee payment closes on 27 November and a correction window runs from 28 November to 7 December 2026 [14][16]. The CBT date has not been announced [16]. RRB‑wise vacancies are highest in Mumbai (177), Jammu‑Srinagar (122) and Chennai (119) [15]. Candidates should verify the A‑2 medical standard and other eligibility criteria before applying [14].
